Annotating & Research College Magazines

The Contents Page:

1) the colour scheme continues from the front cover (blue&white) I think it represents the colleges colour.

2) includes a close up image of the male in the front cover in the contents page.

3) Features things that students are interested about and would want to read about for instance; sex, sports and general college life.

4) Page numbers for the 3 particular images are bold and clear for readers
(Students) to find rapidly.

5) Has on the bottom of the contents page it offers students whom want to contribute in the magazine a place where they can learn more (basic information) that some students would like to know.

Annotating & Researching College Magazine

The Front Cover:
1) Masthead is College making it obvious to the audience that it's a college magazine

2) Masthead  in white. Use of colour was done in purpose as it is place at the sky to match with the males uniform (blue&white).

3) They've also used a transparent orange text box for the subheadings, the main cover line and other text used on the cover. This was also done in purpose to compliment the male as he also has an orange (ginger) hair colour.

4) The main cover line is 'Big Man'. They've used this to emphasis and to present the male in the cover. By the cover it obviously shows that he's very strong and muscular and is the leader of his team.

5) colour scheme in front cover is orange, blue, black and white all linking back to the male in the cover.

6) The 'Naked' issue is very bold like the main cover line as it draws readers attention.

My evaluation

                                                                      Evaluation

At first, I had to research and analyse the magazine that my article was going to be linked towards which was LOVE. I collected images of front covers and wrote notes of the key features that I identified on the magazine. For instance on the magazine it had; large heading for celebrity, no writing of the journalistic work, fonts were bold and simple and front images were simple yet classic. my strengths were to find responses from an artist about music piracy (Angel Hazel) telling her views towards people downloading music illegally.

For my journalistic writing I had to put myself into the shoes of a real journalist. By this, I had to gather up all my information together such as the interview of Angel Haze, facts and figures about music piracy and my opinions about downloading illegally. For my writing skills I had to always remember that my target audience is 16-20 therefore my writing would have to be entertaining for the reader to be hooked on, not to confusing.

Using InDesign has made me develop skills such as, moving and cropping images and texts, adding headings and to also make headings transparent to the background. Using InDesign has helped me see briefly what I'll be needing to do for my magazine also to see what I'll need to pick up upon and improve like; colour scheme, writing set out. My strengths using InDesign was choosing the right colour scheme for my article which linked to LOVE magazine which was simple yet dramatic.

Using the blog has really helped me see what journalism and blogging is like. I have blogged my first attempt of my article then I blogged my last attempt of my article the finished one. Which showed me the difference between the two showing the work made to finish the article which I think that was my strength in blogging the right things to show the journey in developing my article. My weakness at first was learning to upload my work onto the blog however figured out the  steps later and managed to upload all my work unto the blog.

Audience feedback was really helpful as it made me see another persons view of my article. This was a way of me seeing other peoples work also made me see what things I could improve in my article such as things I could include more of like writing, images, headings, colour etc. Or made me see things that I could have done less of.

The specific targets that I'll need to note based on the weaknesses identified is add more writing, improve a bit more in using InDesign and working more rapidly to complete all the key things in order to make my work a success.
